Does anyone have the secret to doing a tidy job with the upholstery for the front face of the upper forward door frames around the fuel and pitot/static pipes?

I am finding it difficult working out how to achieve a neat appearance.

that you attach the upholstery to.

I plan to run a 3" cotton tape, only 1 layer thick, from top to bottom around the door post, fuel lines covered by the balsa. Then put the upholstery around that. Then fasten the rear of the windshield frame back down.
You will need to watch how much fabric you wrap around the door post, because all that material will push the windshield frame outward.
I don't remember if the 2 balsa pieces are shown in the CD.
Mine aren't installed, at this time. Making a drawing won't be a problem.

I can make a paper pattern then copy it from balsa without a drawing so unless you are making drawings anyway no need to go to the trouble for me either-but if you do a copy would be nice for reference. Also just want to say Thanks for the wing number drawings!!

'When I made mine, I bought balsa stock on about 1/2" square. Laminated it into a slightly oversized shape. (I have the 2 original pieces) As I remember it, I think the lower part up to within 5" of the vent was maybe 3/4" thick and roughly 4" wide. Top to bottom on the inside and outer edge, they were rounded with a 3/4" radius curve. The last 4" at the top was maybe 1 1/2" thick and had grooves cut into it so the fuel lines would fit into the grooves and the uncut face was just toughing the forward portion of the door post. The lower end was gooved slightly different. It was grooved so deeply, that the curved bent of the lines finished up just slightly ahead of the balsa. Like there was 3 fingers of balsa, 1 finger of balsa between the 2 lines and a small finger on the inboard and outboard side of the lines.
When I took mine apart, I believe it was wrapped with an early vinyl coated fabric. I may do that or wrap 3" cotton pinked tape (doped)and upholstery fabric. Or just use a matching vinyl.

There is also some approximately 8"x1"x3/4" wedges that go on the inside of the door posts. The fat end of the wedge fits right up under the mount for the entry assist strap. It may be 2 of the above mentioned wedges glues together, side by side, then glued when I said.

I can try to take a photo of it for you. My computer is less than ideal.

I am having to remember all of this after I took it apart in 1973.

'It is no big deal to make a simple drawing of 2 pieces. The hardest part, at present, is to send it via computer. The 2 that I made, fit tight enough to where the face of the door post, and the balsa pieces are parallel to each other. The 2 fuel lines are tight against the door post but still make the turn and pass between the spar carry-thru and the assist attach point. Yet they don't make the trim piece of plywood/upholstery, above the door, to bulge out. The only other task for the weekend is to inventory MGB motor part, in preparation for assembly, and make a few phone calls.

'I know that this was a long time in coming.  I had to relearn the use of the
computer.  I forgot how to get to "ymail.com".  If you would like photos of any
specific area, I may be able to help.  I routed to fuel line up the front face
of the "A" pilar, then managed to make the turn to the rear and have both lines
above the mounting bracket for the assist strap and flush with the inboard face
of the assist mounting bracket.  My original fuels were a poor pattern.   I
thank that reflects unfavorably of the repairs made in 1948.
