I have a PT-26 project I bought to rebuild for my best friend to fly. We
were actually going to not use the canopy and make it like a PT-19 so we
would have a pair to fly together. However, he was killed while checking out
in a BT-13, so I've lost interest in the restoration.
Everything is off the fuselage which is ready for cleaning ,
priming/painting etc. the vertical stabilizer is ready. The ailerons &
elevators are up through silver. The cover has been removed from the center
section for cleaning, inspection & some rebuilding. I have the wood ribs
already built for the cs. I was going to do a engine tear-down and see what
it needs. Probable needs new rings...at least a top overhaul and a good
cleaning & inspection. It came with a electric prop, but I would have gone
back to a wood prop. The canopy is apart for cleaning, painting and glass
replacement where needed. It has metal flaps and floorboards, but no heater
installation. This could be added for cold climes.I am asking $10,000.00 but
would allow $1,000.00 for transportation. You probably have a good idea of

UC61K Pitot
'Hi Guys
Recently I enquired unsuccessfully as to whether any of you knew of a replacement pitot for my 61K project. I am now looking at rebuilding mine from salvaged useable parts such as the main head etc. I would probably be able to draw it up from the bits that I have which have been bent and cut up, but was wondering if anyone perhaps has a drawing of this item. I have the Fairchild club drawing CD, but the pitot does not appear on it.
Any help would be appreciated.
Regards

Re: Grimes Type B Tail light
'Thanks George, Avlite does have the complete light assembly but I wanted just the type B casting so I could build up a type B assembly using the parts from a type A light I have on hand. I have now located a type B casting, which requires weld repair, so I can put some sweat equity into it and have the unit I need. I'm happy with that unless some member has a unit which does not require weld repair. I would be interested in it.

Subject: RE: [fairchildclub] Grimes Type B Tail light
Thanks George, Avlite does have the complete light assembly but I wanted just the type B casting so I could build up a type B assembly using the parts from a type A light I have on hand. I have now located a type B casting, which requires weld repair, so I can put some sweat equity into it and have the unit I need. I'm happy with that unless some member has a unit which does not require weld repair. I would be interested in it.

Hugh, if it is an aluminum or white metal type material that needs repair, there's a product
out that will allow the home handyman to fix it with only a propane torch. It's brazing, not welding.
Stronger than original material, you can file it, drill it, chrome plate it etc.
