Re: Motor Mounts

'Bill, I have a copy of the drawing on hand which I will happy to send(no charge). The only way I can get it to you is via USPS. It will be in the mail as soon as I get a mailing address. Leave a phone message (860)533-1699 or email aeronca2@99main.com. The washer material specified is ordinary brake lining material of the correct thickness. I'll bet McMaster-Carr would have the flat stock available but I would try a good automotive supply house such as NAPA first. Check it out on line. I guess I'm telling you what I will do when the time comes for my engine installation. You should also know that there is a motor installation drawing for your G model(as there is for all Fairchild models} but you would have to source it from NASM which could take a while. Motor Mounts

Post by Jay Herrin »

'Robert..... Many thanks for your note. I really don't want to remove the engine to replace the mounts. I am sending a few pictures to better show my problem. Any ideas are MOST appreciated!

Re: Motor Mounts

Post by robert Etter »

'All I can say is good luck.  I had a tough enough time removing/replacing the rubber mount from the motor mount when  was sitting on a bench.   Getting the mount & ring back to make a nice union with each other and the rebuilt rubber mounts was fun.  i had to gently move the rubber mounts, once they were installed, so they would mate with the mounting ring with any side load.  Centering the rubber mounts in the motor, didn't quite make it.  I had my motor hanging from the prop nut when it came time to put the motor,  and mounting ring/motor mount assembled together.I didn't have the exhaust installed, so you can get to the mount bolts. As for my luck, break an exhaust stud while removing the exhaust.  Did that 43 years ago.
Good luckBob
