'Hi David,

Thanks for reporting this issue. I have confirmed your results (or
lack thereof) and as group Moderator have filed an email with Yahoo's
Technical Support. The automated response email I just received
promises:

"Your issue is important to us. You will receive a response from a
Customer Care Representative within the next 24 hours that will directly
address the issues you have submitted to us."

We shall see.
On the Yahoo Group for Moderators i found two recent postings of
similar problems (yet note I was able to Search the Moderator group to
find them.)

While Yahoo Groups is far from perfect, the price (free) remains a
bargain.

More news on this as I receive it...

Best

'Tom,

I tried to get an account on FACEBOOK, and it required me to enter my
eMail address and my eMail PASSWORD. I cannot believe that ANY
legitimate organization would require something like that in this day
and age. I would NEVER let out my eMail address and PASSWORD.

You mentioned "Spam Address Harvesters" getting your address from
Yahoo. I am a member of a number of Yahoo groups, and have NEVER
heard that one before. I suspect that "Spam Address Harvester" may
have found your eMail Address on some eMials that people forward
around the net, where the eMail addresses are all there in the TO: and
CC: portions of the eMail, instead of being properly hidden in the
BCC: portion of the eMail.

I remember getting some eMail from you that made me cringe because MY
eMail ADDRESS was sitting there with a hundred other eMail addresses,
just waiting for someone to sell to a spammer. The proper way to send
eMail to more than a dozen people at a time is the use the BCC:
feature of your eMial system. For further info you could do a search
on BCC: Undisclosed Recepient.

If Facebook ever gives up on requireing my eMail and eMail password,
let me know, and I will try again. Until then, I will stay off that
one.

'Bob Parks,

I also thought at first that it was asking for a FACEBOOK password,
but it wants my eMail PASSWORD. I read speculation on the net, that
the only reason they want your eMail address and PASSWORD, is so that
they can examine your Address Book and find if any of your 'Friends'
are on FACEBOOK, so that they can add them to your FACEBOOK Friends
list. Pretty lame. Pretty scarey. I also read on the web, that they
did NOT used to require your eMail password.

'Those entries are not required, I didn't put in either. If you do put
it in you can edit your profile and remove it.

I've had no problems with Facebook. It gives us the abiity to link
videos, upload photoes and we have a groupe at

http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=54969402391&ref=mf. where you
can have all the pictures/videos you want to post.

Facebook does not require you to enter your email password. It asks
you to create or enter a password for access to your Facebook account.

Facebook does have an optional feature where it attempts to scan your
email account to "find friends". This would require your email
account password. I wouldnt do this, either.
