Wing Data requested

Post by Seifert »

'I volunteered to help an F24 friend and will be doing some wing repair. I have been searching the CD for the info and found the rib 4443 that needs the TLC, but would like to know the airfoil number to check against the ploted drawing. Is there anyone out there with this info?
Thanks

'The best that I can do is make some measurements on the two that I have. (original in fairly good shape) I think, as you already know, that location is where the tip of the wing starts to taper. I seem to remember that the nose tapers a small amount, the center part isn't as thick as the inboard ones, and the butt end is virtually unchanged. The inboard front tip of the wing tip bow attachs there. Also there is a doubler on the top and bottom cap strips.

'Hi Robert
That is the correct wing rib. I have a few dimensions from the 4443 rib drawing, but the old rib on this wing was not built correctly and didn't fit worth beans. There is considerable taper toward the wing tip along the top capstrip of this rib making pulling dimensions difficult. The few drawing dimensions are from the centerlines of the spars to the inner surface of the top and bottom capstrips. That is likely the best method for dimensioning if someone can't identify the airfoil. Lets give it a few days Robert and see if someone can name that airfoil. If they can't; I will definately take you up on your offer.
Thanks for responding.
