'I just joined the group, and this may be a long shot. When I was growing up, my father had a PT-26. He sold it in the early 70's and I don't remember who or where it went to, however I talked to the owner once and he had begun a complete rebuild of it. That had to be 20 years ago. Without the N-number, or purchasers name, is there anyone out there who remembers a PT-26 coming out of Essex Skypark, MD and where it went, or if it was ever finished?'

You might want to also check out the Fairchild PT19 and 26 club on Yahoo. They might have a data list compiled of what aircraft came from where. Another website to check out is, Warbirds Information Exchange. They have different sections where members can talk about their Fairchild PT series aircraft.

'Finally found a couple of decent expander tubes for this airplane, however was disappointed to find both master cylinders leaking like a sieve...removed them and took them apart. Bore looks fairly decent but needs new seals, cup style seals...anybody have any idea where I might find these? Thanks for any ideas you may have.

' Here is one minor detail that bit me in the rear. I thought that I had a like new expander tube. Well it wasn't. Take an air hose, with very light pressure, and blow air into the expander tube, to see if it actually expands. I had a great looking tube that wouldn't expand with 120 # of air. Maybe a small water tank would be handy for leaks.
How about Fairchild NC28640 back in Spartenburg earlier this week. The photo on the news didn't show any damage after a tornado. I am sure that it may have had damage, but is wasn't near as bad as the Cessnas hear by.

'Normal Hydraulic Brake System operating pressures are in the 400 to 1200 PSI range. The proper way to test that expander tube is with a hydraulic handpump filled with the fluid the ship uses and operated above 300 PSI.'
