oil Cap question....

Post by Tom Mueller »

'I suspect I don't have an original oil filler cap on my Fairchild R46.
It's definitely not the vented kind, but does allow some escape of
oil mist because of a deteriorating seal. Question Pls?...Anybody
know if a vented or un-vented was the approved type. If un-vented
I'm just going to replace the seal?.Thanks,
Tom

'The last two F24's I owned and Pt 19's did not have a vented oil filler cap
on the oil tank. The crankcase is vented by

A fitting at the center of the case on the top, and is baffled and right
angled to the rear. The oil vapors are ducted via

Hose to exit to a pipe mounted to the bottom of the firewall.
