Drawing for the PT 19 - 26
'Fellow members,
I have had two roles of 35 MM film scanned and put on a data DVD. There are
over 1500 images that include drawings of parts for the PT series aircraft.
I have not completely reviewed the entire set of drawings but have looked
and renamed 500 or so. The files that were renamed were listed under a system
that gave no clue as to what was on that image. The other drawings are named
with the part number.
In many cases there are two drawings, or sometimes more, for a part number.
One is a record of changes and is of little use but the others are drawings
of individual parts.
When I had the scanning done I was buying an unknown product. I now know
that a good share of the drawings are very clear and can be printed, made super
sized on a computer and will be of some help to people needing information
on parts. There are some assembly drawings that might be helpful.
The current format is a data DVD. As I understand the process you would
need a DVD player on your computer to view the parts. They can be transferred
to a CD format with jpeg images but this will require three or more disks.
I have found several images that have helped in my restoration project. If
anyone would be interested in having this information I would be happy to copy
the disk. Of course, I would want to recover some of my purchase price.
This information would be a good addition to the Fairchild Club PT CD disk.
Price ??? It would depend on how much interest there is in having this
information.
My email is _Pilot4906@aol.com_ (mailto:Pilot4906@aol.com) if anyone is
interested.

Re: Drawing for the PT 19 - 26
'Hi John,
I don't know yet. It will depend on how many want a copy. I have four
people indicating they are interested. I should have an idea soon.
I am renaming about half the files with the part number and description.
The other half does not have part numbers so I have renamed them using the
descriptions on the image. There are over 1500 files to look at and about half
or more need the files names changed.
So far it seems like most of the images are pretty good. Some are not
readable but that seems to be a minor number. As you would guess, the ones that
are hard to read are the ones you want the most.
When I get that work done, it would be nice to add the manuals and some info
on where and how to find parts etc.
In the long run, the club should handle this but I want to get as much done
as I can and I would like to recover my cost.

Re: Drawing for the PT 19 - 26
'I am doing the same job for Aeronca and Bellanca 14-13 series drawings. I have a searchable index of numbers indexed to function for the drawings. After cleaning the scans from my 39" wide scanner, I add the drawing name for ease in finding them when saving it from my graphics program.
The big problem is after all the work of scanning and cleaning which can take a week or more for a 36 by 120" drawing, You have no control of the CD or DVD you produce once sold. For example, there is a person on e-Bay that is selling our Bellanca documentation on a CD for less than the cost of just one printed manual that we sell. Plus everyone wants a copy, FREE over the internet.
I wish you well but most won't know nor appreciate how much work you did in providing the service.

'Sounds like a great scanner. I am just working on naming the files with the
description.
The reason I want several names before I send out any disks are just what
you are saying about people copying the stuff.
I will let you know when I have some ready.
