Sparkplug question

Post by Charley Humphrey »

'Howdy guys,
I am running a 175hp Ranger in my Great Lakes and I have a sparkplug question for y'all.
The ignition harness is built for the old BG plugs (BG 417-S) and I have about 20 brand
new plugs left, but I was wondering what the equivalent Champion plugs are (for when I
run out and build a new harness)? Anybpdy still running BG plugs? Anybody have any
417-S's laying about?
Thanks,
Charley'

'Yessir,
I have talked with them and they don't have any 417-S plugs. I know what the
designations mean on the Champ. plugs, but am unsure what other BG plugs will work in
the holes I've got with the harness I've got. Maybe I was asking them the wrong question.
I'll call em up tomorrow and see what other part number interchanges with the 417-S.
Thanks
Charley

'Have you tried the plugguy? http://www.plugguy.com/ 1-800-758-4489 He might be able to steer you to some. He is an old Champion man before the corporation take over.

There is also a sparkplug service that cleans and reconditions them at very reasonable price in California. You should be able to get 400 hours on a set so you really have a while to find them.

'Muchas Gracias,
I am not in a wild panic to replace them, as a matter of fact, they are pretty neat, but I
know necissity may one day dictate a modern plug.

'I had them and am glad to have switched the harness and modern plugs. I have less radio interference with my new harness.
