'I'm working on the last few details to get my Tempco built F24R46 back
in the air. and can't figure out where the controls for the fuel
strainer drain hook up to the airframe at the strainer end.
Specifically the close assist spring and the support for the control
cable. I'm not sure if the spring I have is the right one, so that may
be throwing me off. I couldn't find any drawings on the CD. Could
someone post a picture or a drawing. A good verbal description would
work also.

My Temco R46 (serial 386) is not equipped with a panel mounted control for fuel draining.

There is a hand operated, spring loaded, drain cock at the bottom of the strainer. A short aluminum line extends out the bottom cowl for collecting a sample. I have a small inspection door in the cowling near the strainer.

In the 1944 UC-61K parts manual, this door is described as "Door-Fuel Strainer" So, maybe the panel mount control went the same way as the Oil Dilution system.

Anyway, I like the hand operated drain cock because it gives a positive click when in the off position. I've never been able to get my hand through the inspection door. Have to get at it through the bottom opening.

I' m not a big fan of panel controlled drains, I like to be there to catch
the sample and make sure it shuts off, but thought I'd try to make it work
since it is there. My cowl doesn't have the Fuel Strainer door, but sounds
like it isn't necessary.

Anyone have a panel mount that works?
