PT Nosebowl

Post by Herb Carper »

'I have two PT nosebowls, and the hole for the prop shaft is different. One is 3-1/2 in. in diameter and the other is 4-1/4. They both appear to be done by the factory. I presume that the larger hole is a later design to provide more clearance for the prop hub, but I'm not sure of that. Does anyone know which one is the appropriate one to use?

'Herb - I would use the larger one to be sure that you have enough side
clearance for the spacer which goes behind the prop hub. I have also seen crank
shafts on some planes which come through the nose bowl a little off center.

'Thanks Mark. I will. That nosebowl is in better shape than the other one anyway.

'The one that fits your cowling panels the best without
having to muscle them on.
