'Hello,I have a UC61K which has a French Certificat De Navigabilite,
dated Sept. 1955.This I am told is a French Certificate of
Airworthiness. The airplane has a FAA Registration Number. I have not
asked yet,but I don't think the FAA will let it fly that way. Has
anybody out there delt with this problem? ,how big a hasle should it
be to get an Air Worthiness Certificate? Any thoughts or ideas out

'About two years ago I looked at buying a Stampe which had been
completely restored and it's Renault engine OH. The owner had the
aircraft registered with an FAA Experimental/Exhibition ticket. This,
of course, came with all the usual flight restrictions that I didn't
want to live with so I didn't follow through with the purchase. The
owner said the reason the FAA didn't give the aircraft a standard AW
certificate was France and the US didn't have some sort of agreement
which recognized each others' airworthiness standards. I didn't follow
up on this but I'm sure that a call to your local FSDO would help shed
some light on the matter.
It would seem that a US designed aircraft would'nt run into the above
problem, but you know how FAA officials sometimes implode when they
encounter something out of the ordinary.
If you're an EAA member, e-mail their advisors and get the straight
skinny from them. They are incredibly thorough and accurate in all the
advise they've ever given me.

If your ship has C/N 921, then the AAF number is 43-14957 and the RAF
serial HB683. This is one of the lend lease aircraft who was shipped
to the UK in 1944. At this time it did not have a N-number.
The civilian version of the UC-61K is the model 24R46A as indicated in
Aircraft Specification No A-706.

I have tried to answer your e-mail, but it did not work. Please try
again.
If your ship has C/N 921, then the AAF number is 43-14957 and the RAF
serial HB683. This is one of the lend lease aircraft who was shipped
to the UK in 1944. At this time it did not have a N-number.
The civilian version of the UC-61K is the model 24R46A as indicated in
Aircraft Specification No A-706.

decided to keep her! let me or Bob know if you need
help with anything, our plane had an N number already,
so it was no problem for us to re register her! It
does have the RAF serial number on the airframe
associated with the N27FM
