'I have located a 200 horse ranger engine, it has no logs, but is in
preservation, with dehydrator plugs installed, there is a matuctic
(sp) overhaul sticker on it.
I bore scoped the cylinders and can see ink stamped numbers. It
looks like a fresh engine, with a lot of dust, but no rust.
What would be a fare price for it?'

Re: ranger price?
'Tom,
There's already been a number of arguements over the
prices of Ranger cores, but the bottom line is what
the buyer and seller agree is a fair price. With no
logs, you will still need to take it apart to
determine the approximate hours on the engine.
Personally, I would NEVER install an engine with a
questionable history unless I first took it apart
regardless of internal appearances. Look for stamped
numbers on the nose case to get an idea of the hours.
Usually they were removed at 500 hours so there may be
at least that much on the engine. But, with no
history, you will never know exactly. Is that the one
currently on eBay?
