I am restoring. I will have to cut a new hole in the panel so size wont
matter. It doesn't have to be a nav-com, but that would be ok. I have a hand
held GPS.

'Hey Buell, I recommend the Microair . I have used one in my PT 19 for
several years, it has a built in

Intercom takes no space and the hole you use will accommodate many other
standard instruments.

It works even in an open cockpit and here in FT. Myers I hear Wachula, OBE,
OX1 at 1200 feet.

The price is right too. Bob.

I have a Microair in my 24K, and like it very much. It sits in a
small hole, and when it is off, it is very unobtrusive -- it does
not detract from the vintage look of my panel.

'Have the microair in my Rearwin. Agree with all the above but will
also add that I had to call the manufacturer in Australia and they
were excellent to deal with.

If youre interested in a rack mounted radio, I have been quite please
with the Apollo SL-60 GPS/Com. Its only 1" tall, but quite capable.
Garmin AT no longer advertises it (they are pushing the larger moving
map units), but they still sell it the last time I asked them. It
includes a 2-place VOX intercom and doesnt require a cooling fan.
Having the GPS integrated with the com allows frequency nomination,
which I find very convenient. Ive had issues with radio reception
quality on my plane, but I have no reason to believe this is related to
the radio. There is also a matching SL-70 solid-state transponder,
which I installed with the SL-60 as a set.
