'I flew my 38 F-24 after a very thorough annual and when I was winching it
into the hangar, I saw that the hubcap and snap ring on the pilot side main
wheel was missing. The A&P said that he remembers installing it. We
looked up and down the runway area and did not find them.
I neglected to notice the brand of the wheel but the tire size is 6.50 X
10. Does anyone have anything like this to sell?
We could probably get a cap made but I have no idea of where to find a
snap ring.
I'm hoping that someone might have one to spare. Thanks

'OK Lucky, I think I've got you covered if you can't find them locally.

Re: Lost hubcap and snap-ring
'Norb:
Sorry to hear you lost your wheel cover — maybe its keeping company
with the various inspection covers Ive lost over the years. I once
discovered a snap ring coming free during a periodic tire pressure
check and now try to keep an eye on them. It seems like the snap ring
should have more tension to hold it in its groove — mine seem to stay
in primarily by friction. I fear I would turn them into pretzels if I
tried to bend them to hold better; perhaps theyve lost some temper over
the years. Fortunately I cant lose my covers because they are captured
by the axle mount for the wheel pants.
Good luck.
