'Could anyone please say what the weight of a Warner Super Scarab engine and prop might
be? Any ideas for firewall fwd. weight? If not, could anyone please hazard a guess if it is
known to be a heavy bugger, neutral or some kind of flyweight? Is anyone on the list aware
of anyone installing a non standard engine on a Fairchild 24, perhaps heavier than normal?

'David,
Dry weight for the Warner 165 and 165-A is 341 lbs.
" 165-B and 165-D is 348 lbs.
Starter, Generator, Misc. are added weight.
Don't know about props.

'David,

There have been 220 Contentials and 245 Jacob's Installed on F24's They are
allot heavier than a Warner or Ranger.
They are heavier but, perform very well with them but, the added weight of
the engine come out of your useful load.. legally you have a very well
performing two place aircraft.

'Hi David I am rebuilding a 1939 F-24 short nose that has a 225 hp Jacobs
that was installed many years ago. I am not ready to do weight and balance
so I cannot offer any thoughts on the subject. This plane probably has not
flown in over 20 years and it will be over a year before I get it ready.

'Dave I made a mistake by calling my 39 F-24 a short nosed one. It is not.
I have a 1938 F-24 that is a short nosed model with a 175 Ranger. Sorry
