'The fuel valve on my F-24K has siezed up and we cannot find a replacement.
It is mounted in the center of the instrument panel. It is 3 position:
left, right and off vertically in the center.
I thought that I might find some reference to it on the disc for
engineering data, but I guess I'm not smart enough to know where to look.
I would appreciate any help available.

'Hi Norbert-
Not sure I can help, but I am rebuilding a 1943, and I
have a dozen NOS Fuel selectors. But, these go on the
side panels by the pilot/copilot knees.
Please let me know if you can use it

'Hi All,

The fly-in season is finally upon us in the West and I am considering a
trip to either Watsonville or Merced around the end of the month. The
two fly-ins are a week apart and roughly equidistant from me.

I have never been to either, and would love some opinions on the two. I
unfortunately can't take the whole week off and do both -- I have an
airplane to support. I'd be camping and of course am most interested in
antiques and classics. If you could do only one, which would it be?

'Hi James Thank you for the reply to my request. It sounds like the
valves that you have will fit the 1939 F-24W that I am rebuilding. It has a
225 hp Jacobs on it. The wings and surfaces are covered and painted. I
have to paint the fuselage and landing gear. I am afraid to tackle the
panel and electical work but I shall solve that problem when I get to it.
How much do you want for 2 valves?

I was stationed at Castle AFB and helped run the
museum there,we were very involved with attending both
shows. Merced was by far,in my eyes, much more focused
on the antiques and classics. Watsonville, though
larger was more focused on flame throwers (jets) and
warbirds. That was a few years ago, it may have
changed.

Norbert,

My Fairchild 24 K, has two fuel valves. Each is mounted at the wing
root, a little forward of the gauge. Later models moved these
valvesdown in fron of the door post, about knee level. With the
originals, it takes a long time for the fuel to flow from the valve
to the engine. Should that line be empty when you switch to that
tank, the engine can become silent for a long time... you have time
to evaluate different paint schemes that you will use when you
restore your soon-to-be wrecked airplane. If I restored my 24K
again, I would consider moving the fuel valves to the 'knee'
positions.

'I would pick Merced. I haven't been to either in several years. Merced
seemed to me to be the purer venue for pilots and airplanes regardless of
the preference to types. Antique, experimental, or warbirds.
Plan on it to be hot. It usually was and you will need alot of sun
screen(hopefully). Also the ground is usually dry, and hard. Tough for
putting in stakes and tie-downs.
