Re: on Barnstormers: new Grimes 12v retractable landing light
'I believe Avlite (www.avliteaviation.com) also has some of these. The last
time I checked the price was $745, but that was awhile ago. I know they
don't have 12V bulbs, but do sell a sealed beam conversion kit for $325.
24V bulbs are plentiful. Both Avlite and Warbird-Parts have been selling
them on eBay.

Re: Grimes sealed beam conversion kit
'I have no personal experience with these but have seen them in Waco
EGC-8 NC2334. It would appear to function fine. They are not very
evident to the unitiated. I too, would like to hear something about
the paperwork and what lamp it uses since the wiring at present can
barely carry the 250watt original. Also, it would appear most certain
permanent alteration to the bezel and reflector would be required.
When these things are fetching $800 now that is something to think
about.
