'Pilot dies in single-engine crash
Greenville man took off from Brookville Air Park
By Martha Hardcastle
For the Dayton Daily News
CLAY TWP., Montgomery County | A Greenville man was killed Tuesday
morning when his single-engine plane crashed into a cornfield at the
Brookville Air Park, 9386 National Road, Clay Twp.
Eugene Lehman, 40, was taking a personal trip in the amateur-built,
experimental aircraft from the airport when he crashed just after 9:30
a.m., east of Dodson Pike.
He was declared dead at the scene. Investigators from the Montgomery
County Coroner's Office arrived about 30 minutes after the crash.
Investigators from the Ohio Highway Patrol conducted the preliminary
investigation, Trooper Ron Dear of the Dayton post said. The
investigation was turned over to investigators from the Federal Aviation
Administration.
The victim's wife said her husband, whom she described as an experienced
pilot who had been flying since he was 16, was attempting to fly to Van
Wert, Dear said.
