'Dan,

Regarding your little trip into the Alfafa it is a cautionary tale to
all of us in all types of airplane. As they say, the only airplane
with too much fuel is one that is on fire!

I am pleased that you got down safe and pleased to see that it looks
like your mod problems are already sorted.

It also reminds us all to keep out emergency approaches practiced and
short field landings up to date. Not too long ago near to here a guy
from our local PFA (like the EAA) group wound up dead in a field
after a situation just like yours. He was on his way back from France
in a Jodel. He always flew with his partner but she didn't like it
when he practiced emergencies as it frightened her. He got slow,
apparently pulled a bit while looking over his shoulder for a field
and everything after that was regrettable.

you got it right, well done and it I were there I'd buy you a beer as
it sounds like you needed one!
