I found your post for about this spanner and wanted to confirm that it
is the correct tool for the F24 main oleo gland nuts. The wrench is a
Proto C483 adjustable face pin spanner and is available from various
sources; I wound up getting it from ProTools
[]http://www.protoolsdirect.com/product.asp?sku=24187]. I did have to
relieve the inside corners of the tool 1/8" with a grinder to get
adequate clearance around the piston because the holes in the nut are
closer to the inside edge than is typical. Snap On sells a similar
tool for about twice the price (of course).

'Just a little tip on these packing nuts. Removing them is sometimes
very difficult and an adjustable pin spanner is the only off the
shelf tool you'll find. Most of these nuts have been beat out using a
pin punch on the edges of the holes and consequently the spanner will
cam out, especially if it needs a whacking with a mallet. Extend oleo
max length. Place spanner in holes, place a shim (like a big washer)
over oleo rod, and back up the washer with a sidewinder clamp on rod.
This will keep spanner from camming out while you slug it. Most
likely you will have to, as the adjustable spanner has a hinged
handle and a Kentucky torque wrench can't be added. Or you can make a
spanner of your own. Our nuts were on so tight (that doesn't sound
good) we destroyed them removing them and had to machine new ones
(don't ask). Of course this is best done off the ship to save your u-
joints undue shock, they're frail as it is.
