Wanted some main gear parts.

Post by robert Etter »

'I would like to buy a main gear wheel for a F-24. I would prefer the earlier model 752-A (3 sided holes). The 752-M (round holes) would be OK. I don't need a good or servicable brake drum.
I was replacing the brake drum and found a serious ring of corrosion behind the brake drum. I estimate it is greater than .020 Inchs deep.
I would also like to find 1 Axle Washer (P/N A-35-5), for the main gear. I am sure that I will find the one that I am missing, as soon as I locate a replacement.
I have an answering machine on the telephone, just leave your telephone number and a message and I will get back with you on my dime. (775)-482-6820 E-mail will be good as well rletter@citlink.net.

'Thanks John....Walter Albert also has one for sale w/o a brake drum. I was
going to get the wheel from him.
Joseph Denest from Pennsylvania said that he will help be out regarding the
washer that I was looking.
Even after almost 30 years, I may still get the 24 back into the air. I
will be installing a nearly new brake system. From master cylinders to brake
drums.
The wings and tail are yet to be recovered.
Thanks you very much for helping me locate the wheel and washer. I hope
that I haven't lost anything else.

I sure wish you would give me a ball park amount for what it would be worth.
I haven't the foggiest idea about airplane stuff anymore. All I know for
sure is that a good Curtiss Reed is worth a fortune as is some of the Warner
engine parts.
Thanks

'I received the wheel on Friday. The bad news is, it is not the style that I
was looking for. I didn't really know that the style that you sent even
existed. What I was looking for didn't have the sockets for what may be for
a dust cap retainer clips or wheel cover retainer. Mine didn't have the
vanes/stiffners between the holes on the outer part of the wheel.
As soon as I can find a UPS outlet that is open, I'll send it back and
reimburse you for your expenses to get it out here.
I guess I should have sent a photographic attachment. It is easy enough to
do.
I really appreciate your efforts.
