'Bob,

Is that the same as the F-24? If so, then MK33 is the kit number. $35.00 per
cyl kit, includes piston, seal and spring. Only the seal can be used.
Raybestos is the company.

'Hey Jamie, It is not the same as the 24. This is a Goodyear which is now
serviced by Wagner. The part number is F106470 and is available through a
good auto parts house, It retails for $23.41. It is dimensionally correct
and piston, seal, cup and boot are provided. Thanks for the back up.

'hi Jamie
I have been following the replys concerning the F24 and master cyclinders.
I recently installed Cleveland brakes on my 24. Still have the same problem
not enough pressure on the one brake. Is the master cyclinder used on the
F24 actually a Chrysler product. Some of the data in the manuals points to
that fact. Have you had any experience with the conversion and the use of
the old master cyclinders. Its frustrating when you always have to turn
left.

'To all,

I am in need of a new or airworthy front spar for the right wing of my 1940
F-24. Mine has a longitudinal crack from the tip to the wing strut fitting. I
would even consider a whole airworthy wing if one is available. I also need
a rear aluminum lift strut for the same airplane.

'Frank,

The Fairchild master cylinder is the same as used in an early Chrysler
automobile (about a 1937 Plymouth). It was produced by an automotive
supplier and a rebuild kit can be purchased new today as Wagner brake kit
#3630. NAPA probably sells them. You cannot use the Wagner piston, cause
it is longer than the one in the Fairchild. If you need to resleeve your
old cylinder, don't forget to re-drill the hole in the top of the cylinder
(which you can get at through the reservoir).

'Frank,

I believe #3630 is the same as the MK33 kit. I just ordered two for Karl
Sanger.
They are getting expensive. Throw most of it away. Trying to get Raybestos
to sell me a large lot of just seals.

'Frank,

The old masters should work. They in fact are 1932 - 1937 Plymouth parts.
See my other email. Price is ranging around $33.00 per Raybestos MK33 kit
depending on which supplier.

'Jamie: The F24 master cylinders should be sleeved to 5/8 or 3/4 diameter to work with the C310 Cleveland brakes. You can now use regular red fluid. Don't forget to drill the relief hole inside the reservoir thru the new sleeve after pressing in the sleeve. I also made a new piston using standard o-rings. Hope this helps. Bill Spriggs

'The person that helped me out on brakes is Bud Fromme Budsbrakes@aol.com
(716)373-0644. He overhauled a pair of master cylinders for me. Both were
the old cast Iron models. I originally had the old style and the newer
style installed. Another model to add to the substitute list would be one
from a Chrysler of the 1937-1940/1941 vintage. The ones that I have are
either brake or clutch master cylinders. The adaptor bushing is listed on
the next to last line on the Drawing 42281 on the CD. Add in some new
longer AN-4 bolts and some AN910-4 large area washers (4 per master
cylinder) and maybe an adaptor or two to mate the brake line to the master
cylinder, and you are in business.
I was really surprise to see cast iron master cylinders illustrated on the
drawing, then also the newer version.
I haven't actually installed the kit. I am told that the NAPA Kit #1, or
bar code #7 47730 08109 0 is the correct size, 1.25" bore. The dust boot in
the kit, fits perfectly.
