Oil Tanks, cowling, gas tank

Post by jim Chybicki »

'Hi Fairchild folks!
I recently purchased a Ranger for my UC-61K. Upon delivery, I was
also given a cache of Fairchild(?) parts. In this lot was a set of
cowling that is a bit shorter then my long nose, and an oil tank that
seems to be off a Warner model 24 except the fill spout is on the
front, not the side where it should be. and a Gas tank smaller then
my 30 gal. Any Idea what there from? I am still doing the inventory
of the 9 boxes of parts, who knows what else I will find.'

'Jim,

Looks like the cowlings came froma short nose pre-war Ranger through 1940
the Ranger mount was part of the fuselage.
Fairchild had both 20 and 30 gallon gas tanks. The 30 gallon tanks were
used pre-war. The oil tank could have come from a short nose but, I am not
certain.

'Jim.
While you are rummaging through your boxes we could use anything you find
for the Warner Super Scarab 145 hp. Stamped aluminum rocker covers, you
know the spring snap on type, Pistons, 4 ring smooth inside as apposed
to rough cast and weighing 750 grams. Also piston pins, and if you know of
any cylinders we are interested. Thanks for the onfo, Bruce
