(I know i don't have the fairchild's club CD, and answer may be in this CD, but I still
ask questions...)

About oil consumption of Ranger engines, I knew that a certain Robert Yates did got STC's
to enhanced the Ranger conception by adding a system to put silicon-rubber seals on valves
guides.

Are those plans in the CD?

What your engines consumption (for our it is usually around 2 liter per hour up to
2.5/almost3 in hot conditions in the summer with grade 100 oil with a lot of evolutions in
climbing, with brand new cylinders+valves, piston+rings).

And currently we are using grade 100 of mineral oil during cold season, and grade 120
mineral oil during other seasons.

So, how are you using your engines ??

Standard Ranger Oil Consumption is 1 to 2 qts per hour depending your cruise RPM setting. The higher the setting the more oil. With the piston mod and installing the valve seals, you can get the oil down to a pint an hour with a good tight engine. For me, oil is cheap, let it burn, leak and spit it out, just one of the joys of owning a Ranger or a Radial engine.

The Fairchild Flyers have the tech tips that cover the piston and Seals. They will be on the next CD Volume release. There is no record of FAA 337 or STC efforts for the Ranger mods.

I run 50wt 100 grade in winter, 60wt 100 grade in summer. Still using Mineral base oil.
