I'm really good at stirring things up unintentionally, but maybe it'll help
out several of us in the long run. I sometimes worry that I'm overusing
this list with my questions, but no one has fussed at me yet. I rely on the
Fairchild list and the expertise of its members a LOT!

I loved that airplane Cliff, but didn't have the money in hand at the time
to buy her. I don't know of anything that was wrong with the ship. I
honestly can't think of anything I didn't like about it. I recall getting a
ride in it on a 30 degree morning, but I never felt the cold, I was to
excited. As things later turned out the deal on the 19 from New Jersey came
together just right and I went with it, plus I had a gentleman that was
willing to ferry it to Texas for me. Can't name names, but he likes
redheads.

I have that same problem with my current 19. I have good compressions, but
maybe it's the rings, ring gap, cylinder walls, I just don't know. I'm not
going to worry about it much till I have 400 to 500 hours on it, then maybe
a top end. In the meantime, I've gotten used to adding oil at each stop,
whether I'm getting gas or not ) I think my rate is closing in on three
plus quarts per hour of 60 wt.

Re: give me a brake
'I would say that it would give me great pleasure to do so. The Fairchild is
in pieces for about 28 years. The number of pieces is decreasing, but I
still have a long way to go. I have completely rebuilt all the wood on the
fuselage, installed a new interior, and recovered it. The instrument panel
and all the metal up forward needs to be replaced. I have finished up with
the rebuilding of two new wing panels. I reused only the struts, attach
fittings, hinges, and control system. All the wood, bushings, hardware, and
wiring is new.
If I can get back to Florida, I will be sure to get in contact a long time
before I leave Nevada.
Have a good ride for me. I haven't been in a Fairchild since the summer of
1973.
