Re: give me a brake

Post by KineykW@aol.com »

'John,

I'm having the same trouble with my brakes on my F-24, could you send me a
copy of the Flyer article?

Also, i've noticed that there is a list of the tech tips that were in
previous Flyer's on the CD-ROM, but the articles themselves are not on it.
Does anyone know if there are there any plans to have these articles on-line
or burned on a CD? I don't know about you but i'd gladly pay for these.

Thanks.

Wallace Kineyko Jr.

'John,
If you're sending out info on F24 brakes, I could use it too as I am going
around in circles as well here in Florida. Thanks!

'Wallace,

I created the Tech Tips Index about two years ago. I put it on the CD and
also the Yahoo Web Site. I got tired of searching thru each issue when I
needed a tip. As for scanning and burning on the CD. John and I discussed it
a while back. Would be glad to do it, will take some time, good winter
project. John does have a good bench stock of paper issues. My intention is
to scan and further utilize the Tech Tips index and hyper text link each tech
task to the page it relates to.

So if more people are interested, let John know, his call.

needed for the FAA guy.

'Boy you stirred up quite a bit of traffic over the brake question.
Afterward I have decided to just swap out the dot 3 or 4 each year by
pumping it thru without breaking the flow with air. From my limited
experience the installed method works quite well if it is pressurized
during the bleeding procedure.

Yes I did buy the Mineola PT-26 without canopy. What did you discover
wrong with the ship that I might ought to look for. Could you share
what you did not like about it?

I am still trying to get the consumption down. I think it is blow by on
a couple of cyl. and am trying to loosen the rings up.
Hope that is all there is to it. ]

Ok on the Burnett fly in. We always try to go to the one in the spring.

Do you have any knowledge of why Richard wants to sell his PT. Did he
run into some trouble at the Keokuk formation clinic or something else?

Hope to see you in due course.

Have a happy holiday season.

'Hay! Are you guys talking about me behind my back?

As for selling the PT-19. I have had it for 5 years and flown almost 600
hours in her. I have taken her to Sun 'n Fun 4 times and Oshkosh 5 times -
both a long way from Texas. I received my first tail-wheel time in her, have
attended 12 to 20 airshows a year, and earned a formation card in her. No
one has more recent cross-country time in a PT-19, I dare say. But about
this time last year, I realized that I was not "current" for the first time
in the 10 years I had flown. While I did ferry another PT from Philadelphia
to Texas for that sawdust manufacturer in Uvalde, I had not flown my plane in
6 months.

I love the plane! But, these planes need to be flown. Letting one sit does
damage to them and that I could not abide. If I had to let someone else fly
her to keep it alive then I was willing to unselfishly pass her on to
another. Of course, the reality is that the market for PT-19s is relatively
small, and to date no one has stepped forward who is willing to pay a fare
price for such a nice airplane.

Now as for formation flying in Keokuk, that was terrific. We need more that
2 Fairchilds to attend next year. Or, maybe we should try to hold a
formation clinic in Texas. If we could get 2 or 3 from Corsicana, Bob from
Nacogdoches, and Mr. Mesquite from Uvalde along with the 2 who live in
Austin, we could have a terrific school. As I am now the newsletter editor
for the Joint Liaison Formation Committee, I bet I could arrange to get some
check pilots here to handle the school. What do you guys thing?
