'I believe Desser Tire has these for a price. www.desser.com. I put the
R-R-R-Russ Aircraft STC (www.russaircraft.com) on my tailwheel with no
regrets. Less expensive in the long run.

'John,

No 90 degree stem, call Desser Tire. They have the tubes, not cheap $110.00
per copy and going up. They may have the short stem type in stock, see the
latest Fairchild Flyer issue, same subject. Also if you have a torn stem, get
a new one vulcanized on. Did mine two weeks ago, $5.00 repair with short stem.

'John

Jamie Treat is right. Have a short stem vulcanized on. I did this on my PT
and I use a stem extension when I need to put air in the tire. Stole the
extensio of my wifes thunderbird.

'Al,

How has the STC from Russ working out? When Russ first contacted me I
thought it was a good idea. It should also help with any shimmy in the tail
wheel.

'My airplane (almost) has no shimmy. The STC installs a standard 10/4 tire.
I believe that more tread surface on the ground reduces the chance of a
shimmy and helps steering when you need it the most.

'With the inner tube I got from Desser I was always able to push the
stem over get the cover plate in place.

However, the Russ conversion is a great way to go and the stem is even
shorter. Required the extension(not stolen from my wife's T-bird) to
fill though. When pointed straight out it was mostly within the wheel
cavity.

Nice to be able to get tubes and tires at any supply place. Does
appear to help a bit with the shimmy too.
