Get "plugs" out

Post by sjlprinc@powercom.net »

'Hi all, I'm brand new to this group and fairchilds in general. My
son and I just finished hauling the remains of PT-19B #42-83134 from
Maine back to our home in Wisconsin. I've begun stripping her down in
the hopes of getting fuselage (and anything else) chromated before
the snow flies again. Here's today's question for you veterans:
It's time to remove the rudder pedals. The bearings at each end of
the torque tube are held in place by what the parts manual calls
a "plug". What is the proper technique for removing these plugs (and
thus the rest of the rudder pedal assembly...or am I going about this
all wrong?)?
Thanks in advance everyone; looking forward to this project.
Best wishes,
Dan Kell
Princeton, WI'
