I have had my Warner Fairchild since 1969 and somewhere along the line I read
that prop nut torque was 600-lb. I use a 4-foot bar with my weight of about
150 lb to secure it. The clevis pin is an adequate safety even though it is
not a tight fit. The purpose is to check the pin at each pre-flight to
determine that it is still loose. If it is tight, it means that the prop nut
has slipped and needs to be retightened.
