There are more wings and a bigger engine to feed (to push more wings
around, eh?) and, quite possibly, throw over controls. But, how is a
cabin Waco to be expected to provide a more expansive experience?
Please indulge yourself and rhapsodize the wonders and glories of a
cabin Waco as compared to an F-24W.

Here's a spring flying story.

I took my PT-19 out of the hangar yesterday and chased butterflys around in
the SouthCentral Texas Spring air for about two hours yesterday. A
gentleman from Corpus Christi came to Uvalde last year and photographed my
19, then went back home and spent 1,600 hours creating an exact 1/3 scale
replica. It's perfect to the smallest detail. He'll now take his replica
to Florida in a couple of weeks for a competition. Both flying the model,
plus judging the craftsmanship. I think he'll score very well. Anyway, the
point is that he and two of his friends come to Uvalde yesterday to show me
the replica. I in turn gave the three a ride in my 19, the first for any of
them. It was a great treat for both me and the guys. I'll post some photos
of the replica next to my airplane in a few days on my website.

'Yesterday was a Fairchild kind of day here in Colorado Springs, the wind was
topping out at 40mph 1/4 cross. (all that wind was coming out of TEXAS) All
the light aircraft except my 24R46 and Twin Beech were out flying, all the
rest were hiding in the hangars. Fairchild's like the wind and at this Alt of
7,000 ft need all the air movement that is free.

First of all, most Cabin Wacos are 5 place, you can get up, move around, and change seats, leg room, leg room, leg room.

Second, it will climb on the hottest days, it will climb at high density altitudes, it will climb well way over gross weight, it will climb out of a 1000 ft field at gross weight, it will clear the trees at the end of a short runway. Did I say it will climb?

Most run 12-14.5 gal per hour, 5 people and 125-135 mph. Not to bad.

Throw over or dual controls.

Sturdy landing gears!

No ad's. (exceptions of one on some models- Water drains)

Easier to restore than the F24.

Now, the F24 is lighter on the controls and better response. I do like the sticks in a cabin airplane, gentle, gentle, gentle, softer gear (but at a cost sometimes), cheaper to purchase, Rangers are cheap. Did I say gentle?

I like the Warner powered best for looks but the Ranger with the Aeromatic performs the best.

I do not berate the F24. It is one of the Best airplanes for the money you can buy and I have helped lots of people get into one. I believe it is the gentlest airplane you can find. I am looking at purchasing another one!

Don't forget I do value based prebuys, check outs, ferry, buy and sell F24s.

Oh ya, Fairchild owners over all are a NICER group of people. Hands down.....

'As an owner of a monster biplane, F-24 and an Aeronca Chief, one can never
have enough toys. The older, more gas they suck, more oil they leak and burn
the better. The hell with the EPA and the noise abatement people.

Finally made it down to the hangar in Longmont....stuff everywhere to be
cleaned/sorted/moved.
Making room for the 195...if it ever gets flyable again out at FTG.
Taking inventory on all the F24 parts......should get an engine stand and get
the 145 off and apart.
Seems I'm doomed to work on parts...instead of flying....the wx was perfect
at Longmont today...even powered parachutes were up....and there I
was....grounded.
19105 has motorcycle fenders....not pants....the extra drag was there to keep
it from "getting away". Hope to get the 195 properly stowed next
week...prop gov. sent out to "Prov Gov's R Us" and will be back soon.
Count me in on the CD...let me know how much.

Have you on the list. Went flying this past weekend in the F-24. All the
locals did not fly, too much wind. They haven't seen wind until you live in
Texas on the plains. Let me know if you need some help on the F-24.
