'Dear listers,
I am chasing an oil leak on the back of my Warner 145 -- Oil is eminating out of the union between the starter case and the "L" drive into the accessory case the brushes on the starter are wet with oil -- I lost (estimate) a quart or so over the 12 hour ferry flight -- I have disassembled the Eclipse starter (vertical mount) and found a wonderfully complicated mechanism with zero that could be considered an oil seal.
Do any of you know what design factors were to keep oil from getting up this high? It is obvious that the planetary gear set and drive gears should be bathed in oil -- that is fine -- I am stumped as to why this is making its way up through the starter. We are looking into any issues with the crankcase breather line and higher-than-normal crankcase pressurs, however that system appears to be dirt simple and in clear condition.
Your inputs greatly appreciated.

'Give Al Ball a call in CA. I believe he has some sort of fix for
these Y150 starter leaks. Short nose Ranger 24's have same problem.
Some worse than others.

'Any body knows how to adjust clutch on straight E 80 starter, it breaks too
soon. Not too much compression! This unit was recently overhauled, I think
