Prop pitch for 145 Warner

Post by Glenn Chiappe »

'Earl,

Noted your N-number -- a couple of serial numbers apart, no doubt! My plane wears N28648

I have the Fairchild flight manual and it shows a 58 pitch prop as an option on the tapered-shaft engine. It is true, my engine was originally on N15346 -- a C8C.

Hi Glenn and group,

I, too, have an F24W40, but I have a 165 Warner on it. My manual indicates
that the prop you are using was standard equipment for the tapershaft Warner
on a Fairchild C8E. The manual lists the same pitch (63") for both the taper
and spline shaft models. As I read it, the only 58" props optional were all
on Ranger powered models. If anyone out there has more comprehensive data,
let Glenn know.

I have a 69" pitch on my 165 and it turns up 1900 static easily. Maybe you
have some other problem keeping you from getting more on static. By the way,
what rpm does it cruise at? The book lists 1910 as cruise setting.
