There's gotta be some Fairchilds between me and Portland, but I
haven't seen any yet. Your info helps. I'm a little troubled with
the gap at the top right of the airbox but I doubt there's much hot
air that could come in there ...

I have a 440-c5 engine in my Great Lakes replica. The engine
originally was installed in a Grumman Widgeon and was not fitted
with an air cleaner, merely a plenum and mixing box for carb heat.
