'I have one OE step plate, and 2 reproductions ( that I plan to use). I don't think that a scanner will do it justice so I'll take a picture (digital). I have a paper cutter with a 1 cm. grid that I will use as a back drop. The best that I can see is that they were originally casted the same, the the inner edge was cut away to allow it to fit around the inboard downward post, and the under side was cut away (recesses) slightly to fit around the teardrop of the step.
I think that in the later Fairchilds, they may or may not have been equipped with the pretty step plates. Both of the steps (teardrop portion) were not drilled for the mounting of the cast step plates. Telling me, that step plate weren't standard on all airplanes. Either that or both steps weren't OE on the airplane, per a 1948 accident.

Subject: [fairchildclub] Entry Step
Does anyone have a source or supply of the cast entry steps for both sides of my '46 F-24R. Somebody in the past must have liked mine a lot. Also, interior door handles, I'm missing one(r.h. inside door) and the others are in sad condition.
