'Mr Kelly

I am in progress of getting PT -19 drawings from Greg Ward. He mentioned your name.
It just happens that last night I checked to see if subject drawings were on the micro-
films available from Air & space. Yes they are; on roll "D" frame nos 550, 551, 552 and
431. It will be a few days before I get to our public library to see if they are readable.

'Fred,
Greg here.
If you find that the rib drawings that you and Mike need are
readable, then you "should" be able to take that roll of microfilm
to your local "blue-print" shop, have them read and digitize the
image to a computer hard-drive, then print the images any size paper
you desire. Granted, you can be assured that the images will be
distorted, and possibly even poor, but they may offer enough to help
assist in the project. We did that quite often while restoring the
SBD here at the Air Zoo, until we eventually had everything
digitized to a CD.

microfilm PT drawings from NASM

Posted: Fri Jul 09, 2004 5:14 pm

'When I first got the roll of microfilm PT drawings from NASM I went
through each frame to make an index of the roll's content (mostly part
and drawing numbers). I also made a judgement on the quality of each
frame as to its usefulness. The PT nose rib drawings asked about
earlier were all rated as a 2. My quality scale ran from 1 (poorest -
not usable) to 5 (best - easy to work with). A 2 was rated "some
usable information", i.e. not good enough for making a jig without a
lot of creativity being added, dimensions not or barely readable.

By the way - I'd be happy to send a copy of this index to anyone
interested. It is in a MS Word document file. Just send your email
address to me at . I'll reply with the file
attached.

Fred:

Thanks for your reply to my enquirey for PT-19 rib drawings for
the wing. It sounds like thye may not be available from the film.
I've heard that the quality of some of the drawings on the film
aren't readable. I'd still be interested if you can get anything
from them. I have got the ribs from a friend and I will try to make
drawings using the ribs. I'll let you know how things come out.

'I found, in my collection of PT memorabelia, wing drawings from U.S. Army
tech order 01-115GA-3 dated 6-43. I remembered that someone was asking for
info so I made copies of about 20 pages that I will send to Mike Kelly of
Coldwater, MI. He can forward them if I have chosen the wrong recipient.
