The copper gaskets for the banjo fitting are available in any quantity from Amazon. I just bought about 30, just for spares. You will need to know the right size in metric.  From: fairchildclub@yahoogroups.com [mailto:fairchildclub@yahoogroups.com]

Subject: [fairchildclub] Hayes Brake Parts

Hi AllI know over the years I have seen emails back and forth about Hayes Brake parts for the F24 and PT airplanes.I would like to know if anyone has current Hayes or NAPA part numbers for the Bleeder Screw, "Banjo Fitting" and all the gaskets and seals associated with the Hayes brake system.I have brake pucks and springs and quite a few frames. but all the fitting and seals are non airworthy.  for reference:UC-61 Illustrated parts manual AN01-115CA-4  Figure 30 items 3 through 16PT  Illustrated parts manual AN01-115GA-4  Figure 35 items 3 through 20  With this information, I will compile an up to date list for the club to use.  thanks  JIM ChybickiMidwest Aeronautiques LLCUC-61K USAAF# 43-14964 / RAF # HB690RampRatOne-at-yahoo-dot-com

'JamieThanks for the feedback.  I have heard it go both ways.... Yes safety first, but then there are the "purest". I know a couple judges and they all have their points of interest.  We did install Shoulder harnesses, so who knows how that will present.  I guess, if don't know the aircraft type you would never know it didn't have them. I'll send you some pictures.

Thanks!
Jim

Jim,  Just for the info and record. Installation of modern brakes does not impact the scoring of the aircraft by the judges at the EAA events. Safety comes first. Brakes, shoulder harness, modern seat belts, Elts and such are allowed. Hiding them does present better. Esp ELTs and RCPI switch.  JST  From:  ]

Subject: Re: [fairchildclub] Re: Hayes Brake Parts    Hi EricOur restoration is a 1943 WW2 veteran that is going to be flown to airshows (EAA Airventrue, Thundrer over MI.) we are trying to make it as close to original as possible for Judging purposes.  I would much rather have a "better" system installed, but I know that will weigh heavily on the judging.  Jim    From: "

Subject: [fairchildclub] Re: Hayes Brake Parts    I come from the SuperCub world, where almost everyone has abandoned the OEM brakes and wheels for newer styles.  Cleveland brakes and wheels, and brake boosters manufactured by several companies, are pretty much the standard.  At the risk of seeming a blasphemer, why do people stick with the old Hayes brakes?  I'm not trying to take a poke at anyone, or to be provocative - this is part of the educational process for a new F24 owner.   #ygrps-yiv-881788429 #ygrps-yiv-881788429yiv2354400468 #ygrps-yiv-881788429yiv2354400468 -- Hi AllI know over the years I have seen emails back and forth about Hayes Brake parts for the F24 and PT airplanes.I would like to know if anyone has current Hayes or NAPA part numbers for the Bleeder Screw, "Banjo Fitting" and all the gaskets and seals associated with the Hayes brake system.I have brake pucks and springs and quite a few frames. but all the fitting and seals are non airworthy. for reference:UC-61 Illustrated parts manual AN01-115CA-4  Figure 30 items 3 through 16PT  Illustrated parts manual AN01-115GA-4  Figure 35 items 3 through 20 With this information, I will compile an up to date list for the club to use. thanks JIM ChybickiMidwest Aeronautiques LLCUC-61K USAAF# 43-14964 / RAF # HB690RampRatOne-at-yahoo-dot-com

'All,  A large assortment of metal sealing washers, including copper sealing gaskets in metric sizes are readily available from McMaster Carr. Just enter 'metal sealing washers' to view the catalog page. The copper washers sourced through Amazon probably were supplied by McMaster Carr. Amazon's business is selling other business' product lines via their computer systems. When possible, always go directly to the source. Many items and raw materials needed for aircraft restoration are stocked by McMaster Carr.

As long as you have ordered them maybe you could tell everyone the sizes in metric that you ordered.

The Kit for the master cylinder at NAPA is 7 47730 08109 0.  Bleeder screw is 6848.  Copper washer 1246.   I took that information from an old sales receipt.  You may go to NAPA on line and find the dimensions. A short section of solid rubber vaccuum line works good for the nozzle packing. If you can find the information, there was 2 versions of the Hayes wheel assembles.  One had the "lining retracting clips" and the other didn't.   I have examples of both.  The second version used what appeared to be Goodyear Plyobond (maybe spelled wrong) rubber cement to glue the brake blocks to the expander tube and didn't use clips.  There wasn't slots for the clips.I can get anyone the numbers, if you want.Bob    On Wednesday, May 4, 2016 10:39 AM, "james chybicki rampratone@yahoo.com [fairchildclub]" wrote:    any descriptions or reference numbers you can share?    From: "'Fritz' avdflyr@cox.net [fairchildclub]"
