Re: beech controllable

Post by rangerrobertmn »

'Hello Jeff W.

My Fairchild performs well with the Beech prop. I have nothing to
compare it to, but I get off in a VERY short roll, and climb well.
I do NOT cruise very fast. I have been told that I could cruise
faster with a regular wood prop.

The Beech prop has a serious AD on it, if it contains Beech blades.
It requires dissassembly and inspection.

The Beech/Roby prop has a poor reputation for shedding a blade. The
Beech prop is much heavier and very sturdy, and has a good
reputation, but it is STILL a wood blade held by lag screws. Mine
was brand new when I got it, and has never seen moisture. I would
worry some about one that has spent a lot of time outdoors.

The crank and linkage are easy to make, assuming you have the 'U-
Joints'. I think my crank is from a '36 Ford.

does not have the crank or linkage. I've never seen one before on a
fairchild. would the linkage be hard to make. Jeff
