Warner 145 Question
'
I have a problem that I am sure someone has confronted and solved. I have a spark plug seized in a spark plug boss. I've tried heat, Kroil, dry ice, no luck. Pins securing the boss in the head to prevent rotation sheared, boss is turning but plug absolutely stuck. I used anti-seize and nominal torque on installation and I am at a loss to explain how the plug is stuck so tight.
I am wondering if it would be a good idea to remove the plug and boss from the head, and replace with a new boss. I want to see if anyone has done this, or is there another way?
Thanks.

'I have a problem that I am sure someone has confronted and solved. Thanks. Bill McClure

'I spoke with Daryl on Friday, and you are right, he is very knowledgable on Warner's. He was able to provide the info I needed, and the likely reason it happened in the first place.
Thanks for the info.

Re: Warner 145 Question
'Was wondering if anyone would ask! He does believe the boss can be threaded out of the head, just be careful reinstalling the new bushing that it doesn't cross thread. The bushing is available from Fresno Airparts, and is P/N 2002, comes std, +.003 and +.006. The brass pin should go in a drilled hole that goes thru the threads of the bushing and the head. If secured this way much less likely for the bushing to turn. I don't think this bushing was drilled this way. As far as why the plug is stuck, he feels a burr might have come off the bushing and locked the threads. Maybe.
Don't know if others have had this problem, but I'd not seen it before.

border-right:none !important;} #ygrps-yiv-1091259223Was wondering if anyone would ask!

I spoke with Daryl on Friday, and you are right, he is very knowledgable on Warner's. He was able to provide the info I needed, and the likely reason it happened in the first place.
Thanks for the info.

Thanks. Bill McClure

Was wondering if anyone would ask!

I spoke with Daryl on Friday, and you are right, he is very knowledgable on Warner's. He was able to provide the info I needed, and the likely reason it happened in the first place.
Thanks for the info.

Thanks. Bill McClure

Further to this conversation, I obtained the 145 spark plug bushings from Harman Dickerson. Fresno Airparts had bushings, but the OD was too large. The nominal OD for the 145 is .938 . Harman had the brass bushings and steel pins. What I also found was that the front bushings were all pinned in two places opposite to each other, and with steel pins. The rear ones (the ones hard to get to!) were pinned in one spot with a relatively soft brass pin. I believe that is the cause of all this trouble. Still not completely done, having trouble getting the new bushing to seat all the way down.
