'Buell: My airplane is just recently out of the interior shop with an
original (or as close as we could get with a lot of research and $$$)
interior. The rear side panels are made out of the same material as
the headliner, with the exception of the arm rests. I'm on the road
right now and don't have the references at hand with the correct
name, material, and pattern of that material; but it was common to
all the post war F-24's. If you like, call my interior guy at (405)
412-0172 (his first name is Dene, sorry I can't remember his last
name) and ask him for the technical information on the material.
Dene is good people and does REALLY nice work. You can also call
Mike Redpath at (405) 408-0190 and he might have the technical
information on the material.

Thanks! The rear panels on my F24 had been re-done and they had
left out the armrests so I didn't have anything to go by. The seats had
covers over the original material. It's a brown pattern and looks like a
wool-brawd cloth. If anyone needs pictures and a piece of the original for
something to go by to copy the original I can send them some.

'Buell: I'm 99.9% certain that I used the correct material in my seat
covers, but I'm wondering if you would mind sending me a small sample
of what came out of your airplane anyway? If you can send it, please
post it to: Brad Donner, 733 Bedford Court West, Hurst, TX 76053.
By the way, the original armrests had extra padding in them (nasty
stuff, I think it might have been horse hair or something like it)
and a little extra stitching to make them more durable. My interior
guy duplicated the padding (but didn't use horse hair), shape, and
stitching, but used leather for the armrests themselves (which is not
original) so they would last even longer and to get a little color
contrast in the rear seat area.

Good luck with your interior. I always thought the original
materials and colors were really nice and I'm looking forward to
enjoying mine when my airplane is finally done (early '05???).

horse hair stuff in them. I talked to Charlie Bell the other day -he used to
make interiors for Fairchilds. My seats have the same horse hair stuff and
he said the best thing is throw it away and use foam.By the way- I am just
west of San Marcos Texas so mabey I could come see your F24 sometime. Would

We are ready to make our interior for our UC-61K and
my partner Bob has custom designed the interior on our
plane. I would like to match yours up to see if there
is any difference between Military and civilian
interiors.

'Buell: I'll put the pictures in the mail this weekend. I can also
send JPEG images via e-mail if you like. The restoration is being
done just north of the Red River in Oklahoma and you are welcome to
