Fairchild restoration websites

Post by David Stroud »

'Could someone please lead me to some websites featuring photos of a Fairchild 24
during restoration? Does the 24 have an external baggage bay door in normal
configuration? Thank you.

'Only two Fairchild's exists with the ext door in the right aft fuselage that
we know of. Looks ok. I considered it at one time, but changed my mind. I do
have photos of the install, but no paperwork.

'Dave:

I don't have a web site, but am restoring a 1946 F-24W that was
converted to Ranger power in the 1950's. If you need pictures of
anything specific, let me know and I'll be happy to oblige you.
There are a few pictures of my airplane in the "Photos" section of
this web site and I'll probably send some pictures of the work in
progress to Don Parsons if he wants to include them on his own web
site.

Best Wishes,

'Jamie, I had never hear of the third aft door. Did it come from the factory
that way, or was it a retrofit.

'Thanks very much, Brad. I was referred to Don's excellent site by another and have
been able to see all that I needed to in there. His site is a great reference to anyone with
questions like mine and it's a tribute to his perserverence and dedication to getting
the job done right.

A few people have retrofitted a baggage door during rebuild/recover
similar to that found on Cessnas, Stinson 108s, et cetera, so you dont
have to load baggage over the back seat. It would certainly make
loading those cases of oil for long trips a lot more convenient!
