'All,

Still working on the Ten Volume Fairchild CD Set. Trying to identify
Fairchild aircraft owned by famous people.

Here is the list:

Edgar Bergen, Ventriloquist, 24W41, N37161, Location Seattle Museum
of Flt

Robert Taylor, Actor, Unknown Fairchild

Tyrone Power, Army Air Corp Pilot/Actor, Unknown Fairchild

Mary Pickford, Actress, Silent Movie, 24R, belongs to a Club member

James Stewart, USAF Gen, Actor, Thought I found, unknown still

There is also a 24W that was owned by a famous Magician, flew coast
to coast for years with his wife. I believe this info is in one of
the Faircild Fan or Fairchild Flyers, I can find this.

Look thru your aircraft records, let me know if you find anything or
know of someone that has a Fairchild in storage.

Didn't aviation author Richard Bach own an F-24R? The first couple
pages of his book "Biplane" reference an F-24 he traded for the
Detroit Parks that was the subject of the book.

'Hey Jamie! Just checked the old logs and 337s on NC 81236.
CAA Operation Limitations dated June 20 1946. First 337 6/30/47
Teterboro N.J. Owner, Adolph Duchini of Central Park New York. The
aircraft has been in more or less continued use since then. It now has
2000 hrs. on the airframe and has been through numerous engines and
paint jobs. The owners all lived in the North East and no one famous or
infamous either, that I can find. See you for Sun & Fun. Bob

'Richard Bach did own a Ranger 24. My dad in fact was the one who
convinced him to buy one. My father was friends with him in the NJ
Air National Guard back in the early '60. They had been activated
and sent to Chamaunt, France for the Berlin Crisis, flying the F-
86H. My father at the time had our F24R46, 81284 and could not stop
taking about it. He said that he'd give Dick a ride when the got
back stateside and the rest was minor Fairchild history. Dick even
recounted the event in a article he wrote for Flying magazine back in
the late 60's while he was a columinst there. I have the article
here somewhere and I think that the N number of his '24 is in there.
If I it find it I'l try to pass it along.

'I've finally found the Flying magazine article that I was looking
for. Dick wrote about rebuilding his Fairchild 24 in the February
1963 issue. The plane was originally registered as N81364 but while
he had it he re-registered it as N224DB. The plane is still in the
registry on the "landings.com" search page, but it doesn't give a
name, just "registration pending" and an address in Ocala, Florida.
