Hope those who attended Oshkosh this year with the Fairchild 100th Anniversary had a good time. It has been a while since we were there. I have a question that perhaps this forum can help me with.

I have a F24R46 with three spare runout engines. My A&P/IA is saying I should be looking for a rebuild in the next few years. Do you have contacts for those still working on Rangers?

John Ellis in Missouri has provided this service for a long time. Is he still engaged? Noted his name was dropped from the last Fairchild Flyer.

While I am in the Pacific Northwest, I would appreciate it if folks in this Fairchild Forum could help me out any contacts across the country that I can follow up with!

My understanding is that Mark Denest is the goto guy on Ranger overhauls. I've never talked to him, but that is the name I keep hearing from other folks.

I just did an overhaul on the Ranger in my F24. It was a long and arduous process, mainly because of the education needed on my part and finding all the parts that I needed. I had built many car and motorcycle engines before, as well as some Lycomings but it still took me a while to get it done.
John Ellis was kind enough to offer me a few tips along the way. I'm not sure if he is still doing Rangers or not. It seemed like every time I talked to him, he was working on his "last" one. He is getting up there in years. Maybe call him and see?

Mark Denest is the only one I know who is doing the Rangers.I talked to him at Oshkosh. He is keeping busy doing them he has5 or 6 lined up to do. A friend, Jim Martin has a engine Mark did and hasn't had any complaints. John Ellis is in a nursing home since his health is in decline.
There was a good turnout of Fairchild's at Oshkosh. 9 24's. a KR21, F-71 and 6 PT's. The next celebration of Fairchild 100 years will be at the Hagerstown Aviation Museum on Sept 12th,13th, and 14th of September at the Hagerstown Airport. Hope to see some of you there.

There was someone at Oshkosh with a 24 who, I was told, bought John Ellis’ business. I tried to connect with him but was unable. Perhaps someone knows about this.
