Flap noise

My right flap when full down makes a very loud noise.
In reading the original flight manual, it states that “care should be taken to see that th anti howl strip is properly fitted. This removes unpleasant noise if not properly fitted.”
What does this strip look like.

I looked in my Maintenance, Parts, and Operations Handbook. While the anti-howl strip is mentioned in the wing flap section, it is not depicted in the drawing. What year is your 24? Mine is a 1938 24K. When I get to the hangar, I can look and take some pictures. If you can email me at
jim@thelevines.com, I'll email back with what I see.

Could it possibly be the Flap Closure Strip? See attached drawings.
What kind of noise?

I have the same howl with flaps down. 1946 Fairchild 24. To be honest, I don't mind it as seems to be one of those cool quirks of a unique airplane. Passengers may not agree, so I'd be interested in anything you know about the flap closure strip as well. I can't seem to open those tif drawings.
