I guess this is a great time to introduce myself. Hi, I'm Brian Barrett.
I recently agreed to take over running the Fairchild Club email list from
Dan. Really quick introduction, I bought N28525, a Fairchild 24W-41A,
about one year ago. I have also owned a Bellanca 14-19-3 for the last 10
years or so.
Now that introductions are over, Yahoo's announcement is that basically
everything other than the actual email lists will stop working on Oct 28.
Content will be going away on Dec 14. The email list itself should
continue working after Oct 28. Lists will also become private, which does
not impact the Fairchild Club list, as it is already private. We also
already limit the attachments and photos and whatnot, so some of the
things Yahoo is disabling aren't quite as painful as for others.
Even if the mailing list isn't going away this week, it's probably time to
move off Yahoo Groups. I have to imagine shutting down the mailing list
part of the site is coming soon enough. Dan and I are in the process of
archiving the site so that history won't be lost. In parallel, we should
decide what to do next. Would people prefer a mailing list type setup
(similar to Yahoo Groups) or a web board like (for example) BeechTalk? I
have not started looking at web board options, but will if there's a
strong preference. If folks chime in with their preference, I will
investigate options.
Thanks!
Brian
