'Does anyone have a sure-fire way to remove the fuel gauge from the tank on a PT?  It's probably been there for 75 years and sealant is pretty hard!  I'm thinking heat gun?Thanks,Pete Crawford

"FOR GODS SAKE, DON'T USE ANY HEAT".  Even a tank that has not had gas in it for years will give you a BANG.  Even an old car that has been sitting in the desert for 70 years will give you a bang.  Gently pry it loose around the edges?  Don't get in a hurry.

'Google around for the answer.  Filling with argon will inert the tank by expelling any fumes.  I would probably pressure wash it first as well.  Also have heard of using bits of dry ice to do the same thing as the argon.
