'Folks,

I am getting pretty close to getting my UC61K/Argus back into the air - Paperwork permitting!
However I have come across an anomaly with regard to the ASI Vne red line. Some time ago I had the ASI red line marked at 185mph as per TCDS A-706  but today I was browsing the Pilot Operating Instructions (AN01-115CC-1 dated 25 August 1944) where, at  Section III under Flight Operating Data it gives a Vne of 160mph.
Was this lower 'Military Limit' perhaps imposed to prevent those pilots who were keen to 'Explore the edges of the envelope' getting anywhere near the real limit?!?
What are people out there actually using as Vne these days?

'Per TC.  94 MPH Flaps and ST-250 Light185 MPH Dive (VNE)137 MPH Level flight cruise  Good luck on getting cruise at 137 MPH. Best I ever got with Aeromatic and running hard was 127 MPH at near SL. I am getting pretty close to getting my UC61K/Argus back into the air - Paperwork permitting!
However I have come across an anomaly with regard to the ASI Vne red line. Some time ago I had the ASI red line marked at 185mph as per TCDS A-706  but today I was browsing the Pilot Operating Instructions (AN01-115CC-1 dated 25 August 1944) where, at  Section III under Flight Operating Data it gives a Vne of 160mph.
Was this lower 'Military Limit' perhaps imposed to prevent those pilots who were keen to 'Explore the edges of the envelope' getting anywhere near the real limit?!?
What are people out there actually using as Vne these days?
