'It seems that after I fly my 24 (Ranger engine) over the next couple of days there is a slight oil drip coming down from the vent door on the bottom of the fuselage under the cabin. It shows up directly below in the catch pan that I have on the floor underneath the plane. I have inspected under the instrument panel to make certain that the oil pressure gauge is not leaking. It is not and the oil line going to it is not leaking. There is no sign of oil inside the cabin or down the inside of the firewall. I have tried to carefully inspect the engine side of the firewall to see if I can find any place where oil maybe dripping down into the collar lip attached at the bottom of the firewall. It does not appear as though oil is collecting in there and there is no indication that oil is coming out of any location and hitting the firewall or dripping down to a point where it could travel back through cracks and seams to the vent door. There is no indication that it is originating with the breather tube. And so while it is a nuisance at this point I would rather try to find it and resolve it before it becomes a potential issue.
I would appreciate any and all suggestions that the members may have especially if anyone else has experienced this with their 24. After owning the plane for many years I know most of the places where oil will weep but this is a new one and it has me perplexed. Thanks for any help you can offer.'

' #ygrps-yiv-1566987092 P {margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0;} look to your generator, it should have a small hole just behind the fitting plate, in order to drive the oil coming through the front bearing of the gene, out of there, and not into the electrical part of the gene. When the normal engine case vent don't work well enough the oil may flow more by this generator vent... Or that may be the front generator bearing that let the oil pass this way...(this bearing being usually a ZZ type (metallic flanges) could be replaced by 2RS type (removing the side polymer tight flange facing the engine side, in order to keep it oiling from the engine case).

' After reading your description of your problem, and being rather familiar with how the nose of the airplane is assembled, I would had a brain fart.  If all else fails, try putting a strip of absorbent  material, say about 1" in diameter and about 15-20" long against the back lower center of firewall.  The oil could be finding its way between the front and rear layer of the firewall, and the insulating material between them would funnel down the bottom center of the fuselage and directly to the vent opening.The Fairchild isn't much different to me than the MGB that I have.  The only time that you don't find oil on the ground under either is when neither one  has been run.  The only Fairchild that I knew of that didn't have visible oil leaking after flying was the 24R that Ken Love had.  He would fly for 3 hours then stop and put in 3 gallons of oil.   Take off and fly for another 3 hours, put in another 3 gallons and top on the gas.  And, no visible oil leaks.Good luck with finding the leak.
