24W purchase

'Hello Group,
I've been following this group for a while now, trying to learn what I can about the 24W. I believe I've come to a point where I'd like to seek the expertise of 24W owners and maintainers. I have found a plane for sale in Oregon that I will be going to look at in the near future. This plane has undergone a rebuild in recent history.
I would appreciate any information that can be forwarded. Examples would be, what kind of performance can I expect from a 24W with the 165 Warner SS? Is there anyone in the northwest that can do a pre buy inspection? I understand these planes can be a bit more expensive and maintenance intensive to than a similar performance aircraft, where is this plane going to cost me more, ie fuel, maintenance, parts? What should I be looking for during an initial introduction to a plane for sale?
I've been a pilot for many years but have never owned my own plane (just a partnership with a C-172). I'm looking for information particular to Fairchild 24W.
