The WT wasn't a Military code. The Army Trainers would of had ED on them. ED was the ARMY designation for SCHOOL. I suspect that the WT was a personal touch by the owner. If you can find it DANA BELL did a book titled AIR FORCE COLORS VOL.I 1926-1942. This is where I find my information. Squadron/Signal publications put it out. He also did VOL 2 AIR FORCE COLORS ETO &MTO 1942-1945. Markings .One exception toe the blue fuselage on the ARMY trainers would be the RYAN PT-22. The metal fuselage stayed bare metal.
